Short-term stay

As a matter of principle, the temporary stay permits are granted to individuals who arrive in the Republic of Poland and stay for longer than 3 months. A short term stay is an exception to this rule.

A temporary stay permit for the sake of a short term stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland can be granted to a foreigner who resides in this territory on one of the 3 enumerative bases.

Firstly, it pertains to a foreigner who is obliged to personal appearance before a public authority. Secondly, it pertains to an individual whose presence in the territory of Poland was forced by extraordinary circumstances of personal nature. Thirdly, it pertains to those foreigners, whose presence in the territory of Poland is found desirable in respect of the interest of the Republic of Poland.

Temporary stay permits for the sake of a short term stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland can be granted for the time required to achieve the goal they were granted for. This period of time, however, should not exceed 6 months.

This permit can be granted even if the circumstances of applying for this permit do not require the foreigner to stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland longer than 3 months.
